For Education:

Great Skate provides everything you need to give your students an amazing experience. We bring the skateboards, helmets and protective knee, wrist and elbow pads for each student (for up to a group of 15). So you can enjoy watching your students grow and learn.

No additional adult support is required with a group of up to 15 participants, unless there are children with specific special educational or emotional behavioural needs that may affect how they can access the workshops.

We are always happy when staff want to work alongside us to develop their knowledge and expertise in coaching P.E. as part of their own professional development.

We can also offer whole class workshops but would require an additional adult to assist with putting on protective equipment and supporting the children by being an extra pair of eyes.

If possible, access to a smooth floored, indoor space in the event of wet weather would be ideal. (Please see Wet Weather and our cancellation policy.)

As falling is in the nature of skateboarding , I cannot guarantee that participants will never injure themselves, but I do ensure that every opportunity is taken to minimise that risk.
  • A general risk assessment is in place for all skate sessions
  • A health and safety checklist will be undertaken on the day.
  • For participants safety, helmets, knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards are provided.
  • Each session begins with a safety briefing and as lead coach I hold an Emergency First Aid qualification.
  • Participants are constantly monitored throughout the session with the lead coach encouraging progress but also managing expectations and skating within participants abilties.
  • As a member of SkateboardGB, I also hold public liability insurance to coach in the UK

Wet Weather

Wet Weather is the curse of the skatebarder!

It isn’t possible to deliver outdoor sessions in wet weather. It’s just too dangerous. But don’t worry, it’s perfectly possible for Great Skate to work indoors.

If your school doesn’t have the facilities to offer a suitable indoor space for skate sessions, we would have to cancel and reaarrange that session to a mutually convenient time.

For 1:1 outdoor lessons we would need to rearrange to a mutually convienient time.

Please understand that due to the unpredictability of the British weather, sessions could be cancelled up to 1 hour before they start. However, Great Skate will always try to give as much notice as possible.

Cancellations

Great Skate aims to deliver all sessions, on the time and day they were booked for. However, we understand that stuff happens and sometimes sessions have to be rearranged or cancelled.

Deposits taken at booking are non-refundable, however they can be transfered to another date if you wish to rearrange a single day or half day programme. We require at least 7 days notice. Great Skate will do all we can to accomodate your request and find a mutally convenient time for your session.

If you wish to cncel a half term or term long programme, we require at least 21 days notice in writing (either via post or email). Please note that deposits taken at time of booking are non-refundable. Cancelling the entire programme within 21 days of the first session will result in the full amount of the programme being charged.

Rearranging a session within a half term or term long programme requires at least 48 hours notice. Great Skate will do all we can to find a mutually convenient date to reschedule your session.

Less than 48 hours notice will result in Great Skate charging the full amount for that session.

Please note that Great Skate reserves the right to cancel or amend sessions and programmes in exceptional circumstances but will reschedule any such session to a mutually convenient time.
